SBI Art Auction will hold its first NFT art auction sale in Japan. Titled "NFT in the History of Contemporary Art: a Curated Sale by Hiroki Yamamoto," the auction will take place on October 30th, 2021. Startbahn will mint NFTs for all the artworks on sale. Startrail, a blockchain infrastructure created by Startbahn, guarantees the authenticity and reliability of the artworks and supports the long-term inheritance of their value.

Startrail is an infrastructure that guarantees artworks’ authenticity and value inheritance, built by Startbahn using blockchain technology. Since 2019, Startbahn has developed a partnership with SBI Art Auction to provide art auction services focusing on contemporary art, with the aim to revitalize the auction market through digital tracking of ownership and provenance. "Startrail" has been used by SBI Art Auction to issue blockchain certificates (NFTs) for paintings, sculptures, digital artworks, and other lots offered at their auctions.

We are pleased to announce that SBI Art Auction will hold an NFT sale in cooperation with Startbahn. Startrail will also be used to issue NFTs for all eight digital artworks to be offered in the sale. Startrail records not only SBI Art Auction's information as the NFT issuer, but also a wealth of data to protect the value of artworks, including comprehensive provenance history and information about the artworks’ future distribution and use. In addition, the synchronization of information and rules across services will enable permanent management of secondary distribution and use.
